Calculate epoch statistics and channel proposals
Statistical artefact parameters summarize each channel in each trial. Configure the parameters and analysis interval before Calculate statistical artefact parameters. The whole epoch or a selected interval may be used.
Parameters include maximum absolute amplitude, standard deviation and temporal gradient, with additional criteria available in threshold review. The first pass evaluates data without an average reference; an optional second pass calculates statistics after average referencing.
Distinguish channel decisions
- A globally bad channel is unsuitable across the recording.
- A bad channel in a trial is a local channel/trial decision.
- A rejected trial is excluded as a whole after trial-level assessment.
These counts are not interchangeable. A few local channel failures do not necessarily imply that the whole trial must be rejected.
The automatic channel proposals use the configured limits and selected parameters. Check the log for channel names and reasons. Changing these choices requires recalculation of affected statistics and later decisions.
Saved prerequisites
The epoch file has associated .AEM statistics, commonly an average-reference
.AEM.AR file, automatic weights and electrode-status companions. Keep the
set together. The final decision file is produced by the next
threshold step,
not by the mere existence of an AEM file.
For a batch review pass, calculate statistics for all selected recordings first, then run Decide statistical artefact thresholds in Review decisions mode. In unattended mode, thresholding uses persisted parameters directly and does not need to load epochs into the central display or prepare heatmaps.
